Gloves and scarflette

It seems like scarflette is a relatively new term. To me, it is basically a mini scarf that is often buttoned.
Let’s start with some photos:

And so you can see how long the scarf is (and how much yarn I had left)

The gloves came from Erika Knight’s book Classic Knits.
I used US size 2 needles for the ribbing, and US size 3 for the rest. The yarn is KnitPicks Swish Superwash in Clematis Heather (1 ball) and Coast Gray (2 balls) . The only mod I made to the pattern was knitting the body in the round to avoid seams (going back, I would also knit the fingers in the round, but, I didn’t on these). I also ended up picking up more stitches than called for when starting each new finger. I just decreased in the next row to get it back to the pattern.

The scarflette is my own pattern (if you can call it a pattern), worked on US size 8 needles, and using the two colors from the gloves held together. They were inspired by this discussion here on Craftster. It’s all seed st (moss st). The buttonholes were made using yo yo, followed by p2sso (any double decrease would work). It used up all three balls of yarn to make the gloves and scarflette.

In other news, the voting for the Craftster Challenge runs from Oct 6 – Oct 12, so please go there and vote for my Uno dress (pretty please?) !!

  1. Hi. I was hoping to finish my own scarflette here in the next few weeks. I’ve just taught myself the basic stitches in knitting and this is my first project. You have the best example I’ve seen for a scarflette that makes sense to me, but I’m having trouble seeing your buttonholes. Did you do them horizontally? How does that work with it on, as in does it fit well with no give or what? Great job and thank you! Zylo

  2. I’m so sorry for not responding to your e-mail! I was just browsing your blog again and realized that I nodded and said thank you OUT LOUD and forgot to do it electronically as well. I appreciated your advice for my scarflette. I finally finished it as well. Zylo
