Crochet Squared Messenger Bag

Supplies: Fabric (preferably stiff) Approx 2 yds (I used scraps for most of this, so it might be a little more or a little less. I always feel that it’s
better to buy more fabric than you need, in case something goes wrong)
4.5 mm hook (or a G hook)
I hook
(A) KnitPicks Mainline (1 skein) (or another worsted weight yarn)
(B) Elann.com Peruvian Highland Chunky (1 skein)
(C) LionBrand Wool-ease chunky (3 skeins)
Rotary cutter or sharp scissors
Eyelets (72)
Gauge: Using C, 10 sts, 9 rows in hdc = 4”

Fabric Squares
• Cut 16 4 ½ inch squares of fabric. Reinforce fabric with interfacing if necessary.
• With right sides together, stitch 3 sides of squares with a ½ seam. Trim seams and clip corners. Turn square right side out, fold un-sewn side seam in, press, stitch, then stitch around the other 3 edges.
• Make 9 x’s around the sides of the squares, making corner x’s first, then side x’s. (I used an 18mm rotary cutter for this. Sharp scissors work also, just be careful not to make the x’s too big)
• Insert eyelets according to instructions.

  2. [...] Next we have the Crochet Squared Messenger Bag.  This is an original pattern of mine, and the purse it totally unique.  The yarns are a wool/acrylic blend, a cotton/wool blend and a little that is 100% wool.  The inside of the bag is lined with some olive cotton fabric, and the strap is reinforced with fabric too.  It can hold quite a lot, and it’s very sturdy.  The body is 11″ wide, 12″ tall and 2″ deep.  The strap is 2.5″ wide and 42″ long.  I’m asking $50 for this.  You can see the original post here.
