6 Random Things (about me)

I was tagged by Sally of Already Pretty to write six random things about myself, so here they are:

  1. As a child, I was obsessed with Power Rangers.  To the point that I would spend my afternoons “training” to be a Power Ranger in my backyard, while listening to a cassette of the soundtrack of the show.
  2. Also as a child, I had a pet iguana named Murgatroyd.  For some reason, I was determined that I could teach him how to read, and made flashcards on popsicle sticks with the alphabet for him.  Sadly, it didn’t seem to work.
  3. During my first year of college, I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with my dad.
  4. I really love the taste of dill pickle juice.  Strange but true.
  5. I went for about 4 months without shaving my legs once.  I was studying sociology and was frustrated by the way society demands that women (and men) modify their bodies to fit social standards.  I do shave now, but I recognize that I am making a conscious choice to because I like having smooth legs, as opposed to solely doing it to please everyone else.
  6. I once spent 6 weeks living in Nicaragua, teaching English and working in soup kitchens.  I’m also semi-fluent in Spanish.

From what I understand, you’re supposed to tag six other blogs with these things.  If I tag you, go for it if you feel like it, but of course don’t feel obligated.
