Sometimes you buy something, then decide that you really don’t like it. It sits in your Goodwill pile for a few months, and then you try it on again and adore it. That’s what happened with me and this tunic.
I bought this tunic while on a thrifting trip months ago, but when I wore it again at home, I convinced myself that it looked way too much like a maternity top. I tossed it in my Goodwill pile, then in my scrap fabric pile, and it languished. Last week, I had one of those panic getting-ready-for-work mornings where I couldn’t decide what to wear. Then I remembered this top and dug it back out. I found that by tying sash differently, I could create a more defined waistline that prevents it from making me look preggers (which I don’t want to be for a long time).
The rayon fabric is so soft and comfortable, and I love the shade of purple. I also love that it gave me an excuse to wear this beautiful necklace that I inherited from my grandmother.

I like the color on you, in fact I like the whole tunic on you.You had a great idea to tye it like that.
And I know you didn’t mention ,but those pants have the kind of cut that I think flater you most, being that they sit on your hips and go straight down from there.(sorry to be off topic)
Good call on pulling that tunic back out of the pile, b/c it makes your waist look teeny tiny. Very flattering.
nice! i was going to say before i even read your post that this top is very flattering on you, both in shape and color. just love it! and then i read that you kinda didn’t like it for awhile. isn’t that weird how that happens? i have quite a bit of clothing that i forget about or for some reason assume doesn’t look good on me and end up doing what you did! and then suddenly it feels as if i went shopping (in my own closet, of course).
I’m glad this top made it back out, because it looks great on you! I like how you turned the sash into a sort of an obi-style belt-good thinking!
Yes – you need lots of purple in your life! This looks great with your skin/hair etc. I can’t believe the top almost got dumped!
any shade of purple will always get a second and third look and usually a purchase from me!
and what a special piece of jewlery from your grandma! thats so lovely to have!
Pretty top. It’s a nice cut on you.
This color really suits you well!
Many Kisses Diana!
Good job on tying the waist differently! Isn’t it amazing what a little bit of creativity can do?!? You look amazing! That tunic is very flattering for you!
This tunic is stunning! I’m glad you saved it from the scrap pile!!
I agree with everybody– that top is fantastic on you! The cut is fantastic, but I have to say my favorite part is the color. That shade of purple is so gorgeous with your coloring!
That color looks great on you! I have that same top in navy! Like you I sometimes worried that it looked like a maternity shirt. I’ll have to try putting the sah in front.
